“Anxiously Engaged”

D&C 58: 27

  27 Verily I say, men should be aanxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;

     What do you think this scripture means?   If you look carefully at The Book of Mormon, you will find that it repeatedly speaks of the personal relationship with Christ which allows men to eventually receive the fullness.  It also becomes evident that the greatest outpourings and blessings came to those who were anxiously engaged in inquiring of the Lord about their situation, and then acting on the answers given.  Alma, Ammon, Enos, Jared and his Brother, Lehi and Nephi.  The list goes on.  The powerful spiritual experiences in my own life have always come when I’ve gotten on my knees in mighty prayer, like Enos, until Gods word clearly came and those instructions were aligned with.  A supporting power and miracles have always followed in my life when this very pattern laid out in the Book of Mormon was followed.
HERE’S THE QUESTION:
      If Jared and His brother had to petition The Lord for deliverance and a promised land, and if Alma and His people had to reach out to Him and pray in order to be delivered,  what do you think this implies for our generation?  Do you think the Lord is waiting for us to follow the pattern of these others who have gone before?  So many, including myself have fear of rushing into the pass.  It’s a valid issue to be concerned about.  I think this is the reason that the Brother of Jared inquired of the Lord what they should do about the impending judgments which were coming upon the people of their day.  They approached the Lord with questions and when they knew what was coming they asked for deliverance to a land of promise.  They were proactive in finding out what they should do about their situation, and willing to act when that knowledge was given.  As a result, the power of God was experienced, and they were led step by step to their promised land in North America.  They waited on the Lord, that doesn’t mean they weren’t proactive and anxiously engaged in finding out His will.
      I don’t know about everyone else, but I have had some profound confirmations about our impending situation.  I feel it’s time to get proactive.  It will be more than interesting to see how things evolve over this next year as the Lords servants cry to Him and are directed down their specific God ordained paths.  According to the Book of Mormon these saints and covenant people will have a great power preserving and protecting them, and they will be SCATTERED all over the earth.
       1 Nephi 14:13-14  “And it came to pass that I beheld that the great mother of abominations did gather together multitudes upon the face of all the earth, among all the nations of the Gentiles, to fight against the Lamb of God.
        (vs14)  And it came to  pass that I Nephi,  beheld the power of the Lamb of God,  that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth;  and they were armed with righteousness and the power of God in great glory.”
         I have a conviction that the fulfillment of the above prophecy is close and already beginning with regards to the world wide persecution of Christians.  I’m quite certain that those who are included in this scattered group of persecuted saints and covenant people will be the ones who aligned with the same laws the previously preserved people obeyed in order to be delivered, preserved and protected. After all, God is the same yesterday, today and forever, as the scriptures teach.  It’s my belief that the people who fulfill this prophecy are going to be led to their personal places of safety by being proactive in seeking answers and diligent in doing what the Lord inspires, when He inspires it and with whom. With Jared it was a group of family and friends.  With Lehi it was also a small group of family and friends.  It’s evident from reading the scriptures that the gathering to Zion isn’t going to be the first round.  We have a long way to go and many things to learn before that bell rings!  For many, this first round may be one of the hardest,  the clock is ticking.
